ONLINE COURSE FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN READY TO READ, LEARNING TO READ, OR STRUGGLING TO READ
COURSE INFOEasy + Fun + Effective way to teach your child to read in just 10-15 minutes a day!
I'm so glad you're here!
Hi! I'm Miss Christine, the teacher behind Christine's Classroom. My passion is teaching children how to read and I want to share that passion with you!
I've been teaching young children how to read both in and out of the classroom for over 10 years.
Learning to read can and should be fun, but without a solid foundation for learning in place before starting school, it quickly becomes a frustrating process for many children.
What I want you to know is that many of these frustrations can be proactively prevented, or overcome if your child is already experiencing them now, as they are learning to read. I help parents understand and teach their children the foundational skills needed to be a confident reader in a fun, easy, and effective way.
MEET MEDid you know...
34% of children entering kindergarten in the U.S. lack the basics skills needed to learn how to read. (1,2)
When students miss the critical kindergarten milestones, they begin to fall behind. (4)
Nearly 65% of 4th graders in the U.S. read below grade level. (1,2)
Most early struggles of learning to read can be prevented by teaching foundational literacy skills in the first 5 years of life. (4)
Don't Let Your Child Fall Behind
As reported in these recent studies, there’s been significant learning loss with reading in the past two years due to covid. Millions of children missed out on learning crucial fundamental phonics and reading skills. Without those fundamental skills, there is only so far a child can get with learning how to read. Don’t let your child become a statistic. Don't let your child struggle with learning how to read. Reading Readiness will give you all the tools, tips, and support you need to help your child become a confident and successful reader. (5)
My desire is that more children become confident readers!
I have worked with hundreds of struggling readers and seen first hand that many of them can't confidently read because they never properly learned or mastered crucial phonics and literacy skills. Because of this, they develop bad reading habits which become hard to break as time goes by.
Learning to read does start with letters and sounds, but there are also 44 phonemes (letter-sound combinations) in the English language. While children won't need to learn all of them right away, many ARE necessary to master early on to make forward progress with learning to read. Not learning them will lead to a lot of guessing and frustration when trying to read new words.
In addition to strong phonemic awareness, (the ability to manipulate individual sounds to make words) children also need to learn and develop other literacy skills, such as breaking words into smaller parts, to help them when words don't follow the rules of phonics.
Learning and developing these foundational reading skills will foster a love of reading, help prevent future reading struggles, and/or help a child overcome reading struggles that they may already be having.
That's what my course, Reading Readiness, is all about.
COURSE INFOTEACHING A CHILD TO READ EARLY HAS MULTIPLE PROVEN BENEFITS AND IS THE KEY TO THEIR ACADEMIC SUCCESS.
Learning to Read:
- Stimulates brain development; a child's brain develops faster in the first 5 years of their life than at any other time. (3)
- Develops vocabulary, spelling skills, & oral communication; reading helps children learn rules of grammar and phonics which translates into written and spoken language.
- Builds self-confidence; reading aloud and in front of peers will be enjoyable if your child is proud of how they can read.
- Promotes creativity & imagination; reading allows children to explore people, places, and times beyond their own experiences.
- Develops a genuine love of reading; teaching your child to read in a playful way will make reading feel fun and not like it's a chore.
IMAGINE WHAT IT WILL BE LIKE WHEN YOUR CHILD IS ASKING TO READ MORE, INSTEAD OF THE OTHER WAY AROUND!
